I used to surf most everyday
from Waikiki to Mauna Lua Bay
until one day my baby
said to me

she said I don't wanna surf with you no more
I got a dozen guys on a dozen shores
and right about then I hung up my board to be

since my baby left me on the beach

Now I'm just another surfing retiree

Then one day she came back
with her pride hang tenned
and her board all cracked
and she begged me to hear what she had to say

She said I can't even surf no more
I broke my back on a dozen shores
and right now I'm hanging up my board to be
Just another surfing retiree
